I am currently a patient in care here, the great things are the entire Physical and Occupational therapy staff that work with you consistently to get you back to yourself, words cannot express my gratitude toward Shannon, Randy, Arlene and others in Therapy. The second great thing are the nursing staff of Laura, Emily and Jackie along with exceptional care from the wound care team from Mary and Sage, you rock and got me back to health. The DON, Mr. Bahia was great and wonderful at speaking up for me as a patient in care. Dr. Peter was great. Ms. Rosie you listened to my concerns with the Cna staff and did your absolute best to correct them. Unfortunately, the majority of the Cna's dont give you your showers or bed baths, change your dirty briefs without cleaning you like they would themselves, want to deliver ice to all patients before cleaning your bm after going to the bathroom on yourself, they call in off work a lot leaving only 2 CNA's to work shifts alone with too many to care for..Hire staff not for body count but those that give a damn and really care about sick folks. Even the darn Registry folk call in. Social workers take 1 to 2 weeks to assist you when you call to talk with them about real concerns in reference to your individual case, my poor roommate is legally blind along with other issues needing help filling out her Insurance renewal papers and other things social workers do and they still haven't come to address her and now she faces her insurance and section 8 cut off, due to being here unexpectedly. I realized that they house many residents here who are homeless, on drugs and drug seeking, or on full disability for several reasons with limited support systems in their lives but thats not my case, I am highly educated, 3 degrees, with a career that I have worked hard to obtain on my own, so don't handle, talk to me and treat me as if I am a drug seeking crack head or homeless and that this is my only hope but to reside here and accept less par care. That is why I only have 2 stars because this place needs CNA and Admin staff that really care about humanity or just give a damn about people needing help not generalized mess!

To be fair, i have to give Haven a generally good review. It's the exceptions that I wish to convey. Food service is well above average, in 2 mths here, I have never seen a dish that wasn't carefully prepared, very presentable, and delicious. If a dinner is not to your liking, they offer a variety of alternatives. Everything is always spotless and clean. Surprisingly exceptional. I watched in awe, House-Keeping, sanitize door knobs and rails. I have never seen that done regularly,if at all, in any other facility. The administrative staff is another, that somehow, keep morale high among the nurses. From nurses aides,LPN's,RN's, I have witnessed myself, the Director of Nursing, change a patients diaper. He didn't wait, didn't pass off the job. Severely understaffed or what, I cannot explain. I DO KNOW, that if a patient is left in urine/feces, traumatic breakdown of skin may occur. He knew this too. I was very impressed, but it was obvious to me, and brought to mind, " TRUE CHARACTER OF ANYONE, CAN ONLY BE MEASURED, BY WHAT THEY DO, WHEN NO-ONE IS LOOKING." Mr. Baha, is a credit and asset to more than Administrative Nursing. The other nurses must see this on occasion, take note of this, and the majority do try to gain those standards. In my opinion. You have a loved one needing care, is why you should, and are reading this.I commend you.Your loved ones care is not to be trifled with. Keep in mind, the job these nurses do,are one of the toughest.I am a former Captain of a Commercial Fishing Vessel, said to be the most dangerous in the world.I am a USAF Paralyzed Veteran.Married to a RN. Lately I've experienced skin breakdown. 25 years of sitting takes its toll eventually. I have been in 7 other facilities for care because of this. They are the primary reason i never healed correctly. Some were so intolerable, i left AMA.Others just didn't care, and sub-standard is too kind a description for them. It really broke my heart when i had to write a GRIEVANCE on Wound-Care LPN, Mary Sampson. In my opinion ,she is suffering 'burn-out'. She actually frightened me, so as to get this strong intuition that she would deliberately hurt me intentionally. She started with a habit of stealing items off my table, then retracting with incredulous excuses. She went through my personal property without my permission, and took invaluable trinkets, such as paper clamps. True, they were beautiful cobalt blue, but its just the principle of the thing. The last 2 times she did my wound care, she violently ripped off the old dressing, then split stitches through my skin, causing further harm. It's at this point i had had enough, and i brought her in private conference. I explained to her in private, that my gut feeling is I do not feel safe under her, that i felt she should maybe try admin jobs for awhile, that i am not saying you are consciously evil, but that she may be experiencing 'burn-out' and i cannot continue with her. I did this privately, so as not to embarrass her among others, her peers also find her difficult, and in many cases, incompetent.I tried to do the right thing. The answer to this was one no one has ever accused me of, she chose to call me a RACIST, which was not only a below the belt untruth, it was offensive and hurtful. I suspect she has many other issues to deal with, only a psychologist can diagnose.Remember, "INCOMPETENCE,BY ITS' VERY NATURE, CANNOT RECOGNIZE ITSELF." So, I give the facility of Haven Of Phoenix a 5-star rating. One bad apple should not spoil the bunch, so to speak. If wound care is needed, Jay, Samantha,Sage stepped up for me. I advise you avoid Mary Sampson, LPN, at all costs. It's telling that her peers do. Sincerely, Eddie Carter.
Great care and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. The staff is great including Casey the marketing liaison. He truly cares about customer service, quality and his expertise in this field makes him unique. Need a facility, look no further. There is also a sister facility in Scottsdale in case you need one in that area!
The staff are great and very sweet and attentive to my mom. I would have given Haven 5 Stars but their food is mediocre to good. The place is NOT dirty and it smells pretty good on the short-term care side. On the long-term care side , there is a definite odor. They have really good activities and their PT /OT staff are very patient.
