I can't take my family member out of there quick enough And we will never ever return. Only 1 nurse had a true kind and helping heart, the rest are always sitting and chatting even when I asked a question. My family member has terminal illness but he was not even given meals on time. No one cares about his life and he developed bed sore that I will report to authority. I do not think this place is qualified for caring for people s lives. If I ask a question, the nurses will go to my family member s room and yell at him. My family member was never given an air mattress till he got bed sore. We asked to transfer to other facility but nobody did anything and My family member had to wait there , we felt stuck and saddened every day. At the end of stay, I had to take him to ER on a Saturday night because the nurses there thought nothing wrong with him ----he had a fracture and was in severe condition. I m sorry, no matter how fancy a facility looks, ni matter how many chain stores they open, it is the staff and nurses s hearts that matters. Without a caring and loving spirit, it is not worth going here.
The majority of the staff were either rude or disinclined to be of any assistance. One aide would actually get up from the nurse's station and duck around the corner to avoid any kind of contact. We asked that the room be kept warm or plenty of blankets be available. We were informed that our loved one had fallen out of bed early Sunday morning. Instead of calling the squad, the staff just put our loved one back in bed, with one sheet. When we got there, he was completely incoherent. This was over 2 hours after the reported fall took place. When we asked why the squad hadn't been called because he was unable to speak sensibly, one of the aides reported that "he's always been like that," which was a total lie! We'll never know for sure how long he laid on that cold hard floor. We called the squad to have him rushed to Riverside for x-rays and tests. They determined that he had a stoke that morning while in that place. He died 9 days later.
I went here because it was the closest polling place on Election Day. The ladies there were very sweet and asked how old my son was as we roamed the balls trying to find the elections area. The elevator was nice and clean. I’ll vote here again next time.
There was so much wrong while my dad was there 3 months ago, I could write a book. First the good. The physical therapy team is amazing. I would encourage them to leave that sinking ship before they take them down with them. Now the bad. Because insurance companies suck, I was left having to make an immediate decision of where to move my dad after a brief stay at riverside hospital. I chose this place because of “a new program they had that allowed them to take patients immediately without insurance pre-approval.” But when I got there to visit my dad, I knew it was a mistake. It smells! It is rundown. And their communication with my family was nonexistent. Phone calls were not returned and calling her out by name, the social worker, Nicki Faw, is incomparably incompetent. In fact, when my father’s insurance cut him, no one called to let us know! We found out by happenstance during a visit. When I asked Nicki why I wasn’t called, she lied and said “ I left you a voice mail.” It never happend. Probably the most important call that needs to be made to a family regarding their loved one’s care! It was not done. We had to pay $270 a day out of pocket for him to stay. That rate included nothing but the bare minimum care. In a scramble, we found him a nursing home in a couple of days. Now the really ugly parts of the experience. My dad was there for just under a month. He went 6 and 8 days without a shower. The other times, he was showered every 3 to 5 days. Disgusting! My dad got sick and vomited in the cafeteria at breakfast. His vomit was not cleaned up! It was there when I visited him that night! I complained about it. Would you believe that even on the day he left, there was still chunks of thrown up food on the carpet in that cafeteria where he threw up!? And they said there was a stomach bug going around, no big deal. Gee- I wonder why. They have a lot of big issues to correct at Whetstone!
Wonderful staff and residents!clean and friendly!they actually have petting zoos with sunshine farms and other events for residents!
